Help for the Jobless--this way...
Here is a story to help the jobless find hope.Susan Boyle's rise to fame is miraculous and I believe the miracle is not just for herself but for the world and that is why it resonates. It is a message we all crave that out of simple things is a magnificence we can only credit a 'Creator" for. The greatness in Susan was not created by man--it was instilled--gifted to her by God. In today's world most of us strive very hard to be something or become somebody. Many invests all the money they can in becoming that somebody. Many go to school and for years and years study to become that somebody. Many encounters succcess and many encounters failures. Many keeps on trying and many give up. Then here comes Susan Boyle. For most of her life she was in the shadow. Patiently living her life for someone else's sake. She's suffered ridicule many times and disappointments also. And then at an age when most people had given up their dreams--she starts to live for herself. But it took a charge from a loved one to go out of her shell and really strive to be the best she could be as that loved one knew she had the gift. Susan knew it too but the right opportunity wasn't open 'til now.
Now the world knows Susan Boyle and the gift from God of that awesome voice. Most of us cried when we first heard--as the song resonated along with the voice. Susan dreamed a dream and so have most of us and how wonderful to see someone's dream finallly coming true...
But I believe there is a larger lesson here God wants for all of us and that is what Susan herself had said in her simple way in her simple words. When asked does she feel vindicated now as in the past people had made fun of her she states, "Well, the ones who made fun of me are now nice to me. So I may have won them around."
Unlike some of those today in the news that we heard committed murder to themselves and others and part of their story was that people made fun of them--Susan's attitude is one to be followed. How breathtaking that in this world of fighting hate and disappointments with hate--that she instead wants to win them around. Reminds me of Christ attitude toward us sinners--he wants to forgive us and win us around and he did win the victory over sin for us.
Many who are suicidal and hopeless could learn from Susan's words as she said " You just have to keep going and take one step at a time and one day you will make it. You just don't give up." Many of us in this world give up, many quit trying to dream and worse many quit living. On the internet, I learned, there are suicide clubs in Japan and even here in America besides the shooting sprees like the Samson-Geneva shooting spree--even our best soldiers according to Time Magazine article on recruiters find themselves out of hope and give up and take their own precious lives.
Let us learn from Susan Boyle--God uses people's lives as the best examples of how to show us how to live. I believe that is whyGod waited 'til age 47 to allow Susan to become a star and see her dream a reality. He is reminding a world gone mad--to get to know him--then wait on him. Take it one day at a time and even though life is hard--Susan can probably attest to that--never give up.
For those of us who read and cherish the word of God as a lamp unto our feet--we know it works. But until the rest of the world finds out for themselves, then we continue to mourn the loss of those who failed to "put their hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea" and can also calm the storm within. If you don't know Jesus--I dare you to read theHoly Bibleand find out and start by claiming Matthew 7:7 sincerely. May the Lord bless you in this endeavor and shine his face upon you.
