Dear ones,

I try not to send too many emails out but this is an important, critical time. The ninth of Av falls on August 3 this year. I am putting prayer targets (especially the Psalms) at the beginning of this and a compilation of articles about this time afterwards. That way if you are already aware about this season you won't need to read all the way through. Just please come into agreement with G-d's word over Israel, our nation, and the world.

Let us watch and pray as history and Bible prophecy unfold before our eyes. We must each come from under the "numbing spell" the enemy has cast over us, as a net over fish. We have the authority to overcome the enemy and bring restoration, peace and His love to our homes, this nation, and on behalf of Israel!

The basilisk lizard is one of those rare animals that can move establishing a balance between water and air. This has a lot to do with the defilement of the PURE WATER of the Word of Truth and PURE COMMUNICATION (which affects unity in the body).

Prayer Points
There are many prayer points that continue to surface in this war. While many are very obvious, perhaps a reminder of some of these will help keep them in the forefront of your prayer times.

Pray for the families who have lost loved ones during this war.

Pray for the wounded who lay in hospitals.

Pray for those who suffer from shock in the aftermath of a rocket attack.
Pray for Israel's soldiers.

Pray they will receive the much-needed rest they need to remain fresh and alert on the battlefield, not only in the North but also in the other war zones in Israel.
Pray for the thousands of reservists who received their "marching orders" today.
Pray for the kidnapped soldiers. Pray for their kidnappers.
Pray the IAF will continue to hit their targets with even greater accuracy to destroy the strongholds of the enemy.
Pray for the thousands of Israelis from the North who have fled their homes and gone to other parts of the country. Pray every need will be met during this time. They have left jobs behind so they have no income during this time. Many will return to damaged or destroyed homes. Pray for those who remain in the North.
Pray for the continued "hedge of protection" over this land and people. Today, rockets from Lebanon penetrated deeper into Israel than ever before.
Pray for the Love of God to be released into the hearts of those who hate the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. It is only through a *new heart" that they will have this love.
Pray for all the believers in the land to continue to be used by the Lord as an instrument of Peace. Pray for Godly wisdom, greater knowledge, and deeper compassion. Pray for more of His love to come forth for all people.

The period identified as the “Basilisk” season is approaching and we once again want to reiterate the importance of this time frame and the great need for consecration, repentance and prayer. In times past, we greatly emphasized Israel and her need for prayer covering and spiritual intervention. That emphasis continues. However, we perceive an equal prominence for our nation and the American Church and its need for extraordinary covering during this notable time.

INTERCESSION NULLIFIES TERRORISM
In 1999 we (White Dove Ministries and Bob Jones) wrote in the “Basilisk” article that terrorism was not coming... it is already here. That threat remains real. Nonetheless, intercession can nullify those spiritual plans of the enemy both for Israel and our nation. In recent weeks, the Lord has given specific permission to call upon heaven for the release and activation of the mighty warring angels, including the distinguished archangel Michael.

In the book of Daniel we see special significance on the role of Michael and the implementation of Heavenly plans here on the earth. Our vision and concentration is placed solely upon the Lord and His Holy Spirit. Nevertheless, God has chosen the agency of man to release the resources of Heaven and hosts’ of ministering spirits to engage the adversary. That provides a source of great comfort knowing there are more for us than for our enemies.

So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (II Kings 6:16-17)

The scriptures promise the Lord’s blessings for those who bless the natural seed of Abraham.

And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed. (Genesis 12:2-3)

PARTICIPATING IN HIS LOVE FOR ISRAEL
The Lord’s love for Israel is eternal and to share in His heart is to participate in His love for the Jewish people and the land upon which the blood of Christ was spilled.

A deep and affectionate passion is being imparted to the Christian Church for the land of Israel and the natural seed of Abraham. Even as Esther sanctified and adorned herself in her royal attire, so is the Bride of Christ in order to come boldly before the Throne of Grace to obtain mercy for the land of Israel and find divine help in time of need.

For the past several years, the Lord has spoken prophetically concerning strategic intercession against the spiritual enemies of Israel and the Church. Perpetual, daily prayer is essential in the spiritual warfare on behalf of Israel and the enemies of the Church. However, the Lord has identified a particular season in the Spirit in which considerable warfare is amplified.

THE TIME OF DIRE STRAITS

The 17 Tammus on the Jewish calendar, is July 13, 2006. On this day, news headlines read: “It’s war, says Israel as troops are kidnapped.”

Historically, the 21 days between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B’Av (9th of Av), have been fraught with trials and tribulation for the Jews. In 2006, 9 Ave goes from sunset, August 2, to nightfall, August 3.

From a Jewish source:
In Jewish tradition, the 17th of the month of Tammuz is a fast day which commemorates the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar (586 BC) and Titus (AD 70).

It should be recalled that these breaches in the walls of the Holy City came after many months of siege in which the city’s residents suffered extreme hardships, sickness and hunger.

Four Reasons to Mourn:
In addition to the breaching of the City Walls, the Mishnah (Ta’anit 4:6) recounts four other tragedies that occurred on this day, 17th of Tammuz:

1. Ten Commandments Smashed
After Matan Torah, the giving of the Torah, Moses went back up Mount Sinai for forty days in order to learn both the general principles and details of the Law and to receive the 10 Commandments. But Bnei Yisrael miscalculated the amount of time that Moses was meant to be on the mount, and on the 39th day of his absence (17th of Tammuz) fearing that he would not return, they built an idol - the golden calf. When Moshe (Moses) saw that the nation, who had just made a covenant with God, had built an idol, he was overcome by anger and he threw the 10 commandments to the floor, smashing them to pieces.

2. Daily Offerings Ceased
During the days of the destruction of the first Temple, the walls of Jerusalem were breached on the 9th of Tammuz. Although the enemies entered the city and spread desolation, they were unable to enter the Sanctuary because the Cohanim (priests) had fortified themselves and continued to perform the daily offerings.

On the 13th of Tammuz, the Cohanim had no more sheep for the daily offering, so they bribed the besieging soldiers for gold and silver in return for sheep. On the 17th of Tammuz, the soldiers stopped sending up sheep and for the first time, the daily offerings ceased.

3. Burning of the Torah Scroll
On the 17th of Tammuz, a number of years before the destruction of the Second Temple, during the time of the Roman Procurator Comenus, there was great tension between the Romans and the Jews. Josephus Flavious tells of the burning of the Torah Scroll by Comenus and his forces: “On the royal road, near Beit Horon, robbers befell the cortege of Stephanus, a royal official, and they thoroughly plundered it. Comenus sent an armed force to the nearby villages and ordered the arrest of their inhabitants, who were then to be brought before him. One of the soldiers seized a scroll of the Holy Torah in one of the villages; he tore it and cast it into the fire...From all sides the Jews gathered in trembling, as if their entire land had been given over into the flames...”

It was their sin that they had failed to pursue and capture the robbers.

4. Idol Placed in Second Temple
Many are of the belief that Apustumus, a royal Roman official, placed an idol in the Second Temple on the 17th of Tammuz.

THE THREE WEEKS of Trial...
Historically, the 21 days between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B’Av (9th of Av), have been fraught with trials and tribulation for the Jews.

The Scroll of Lamentations (Megilat Eicha 1), composed after the destruction of the second temple, becries of the Jewish people that all her pursuers caught her “between the fences.”

The sages tell us that “between the fences” or “Bein HaMeitzarim” represents the 21 days between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B’Av.

On these days much affliction and calamity has troubled the Jewish people throughout the generations.

From the fast of the 17th of Tammuz, various customs of mourning begin, intensifying on Rosh Chodesh Av, with the mourning reaching a peak on the fast of Tisha B’Av.

THE THREE WEEKS of Mourning...
During the Three Weeks from 17th Tammuz until the 9th Av, the Jewish nation undergoes a collective period of mourning.

Historically, the period between the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th Av, has witnessed a series of calamities and disastrous events for the world’s Jewish population.

During the mourning period, Jews focus on the the destruction of the First and Second Temples, signifying the cessation of the national, social and political life of the Jewish state.

The prophets have promised that there will be a future time when Zion will be comforted from all the troubles that have befallen her since the destruction of the Second Temple.

Until then, the Three Weeks is a period of mourning and reflection which intensifies in the 9 days that count down to a dramatic close with the fast of Tisha B’Av.

This particular 21 days of tragedy and mourning truly began with tragedy and mourning.

“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORDS hand double for all her sins. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God” (Isaiah 40:1-3).

The month of “Tammuz” in the Jewish Calendar is under the cover and authority of a Babylonian idol, a very mighty spirit of the underworld, one of Satan’s main generals. Those of us who are in Messiah have nothing to fear of Him for “all authority has been given to us over ALL of the power of the enemy.” BUT — not all Israel is yet under the authority of Yeshua. Therefore the responsibility to stand in the gap and make up the breach is upon our shoulders! G-d commanded His people in Exodus 23:13 “you shall not make mention of the NAMES of other gods, nor let such be HEARD out of your mouth.” Yet every year when THIS month which is now on our calendar comes around again the name of that “god” is mentioned and heard for every day of that month. The name of this idol is “Tammuz.” The 4th month of the Babylonian Calendar was named after him, and his cult was characterized by ritual offerings, lamentations and weepings. In Egypt he was known as “Osiris,” and in Greece as “Adonis.”

His cult claims that he was a Sumerian shepherd and ruler who married the goddess “Ishtar.” Without going into all the myths surrounding this “goddess,” let it suffice that the Scriptures refer to her as the one who was worshiped by the idolatrous Israelites as “Queen of heaven.”

1She was also known by the names of “Astarte,” “Isis,” and in the West as the Greek “Artemis” (goddess of war and fertility: the great Artemis of Ephesus) or/and “Aphrodite” (goddess of love and beauty) and the Roman “Venus.” She was later “Christianized” by the Roman Christian State religion and her title “Queen of heaven” was conferred upon Yeshua’s mother Miriam.

G-d both loathed the cult of Tammuz as well as that of Ishtar, and in hot jealousy and wrath He punished His people for their idolatry. The cult of Tammuz especially is a satanic counterfeit of the person and sacrificial life of the Son of G-d, Yeshua the Messiah. The Tammuz cult incorporated festivals of his death (funeral offerings with lamentation and weeping) and resurrection (offerings of every sort of vegetation).

Hence, every year for one month the name of this idol and of his associate, Ishtar, literally “rule” over Israel, over the Jewish people. Why they ever adopted this name to “head” this month in our Calendar I do not know. But I DO know that the worst, most terrible disasters that ever befell our people occurred during that month, usually culminating in the worst of atrocity or edict on the 9th of Av. That is the date on which both temples were destroyed, Crusades were declared, the edict of the Spanish Inquisition was ratified and many other horrors planned, proclaimed and carried out.

This demon of hell by the name of Tammuz “rules” over the Jewish people during that month. The presence of this principality appears like a huge dark blanket hovering over Israel, attempting to block the light and protective shield of our G-d, the Holy One of Israel. This principality works nearly unimpeded, intent on utterly destroying the nation of Israel.

BUT — the Lord explained further that much of this demon’s effect could be minimized if we, who are the children of light, stand in the gap and make up the breach.

9TH AV [What happened in history on this date]
1200 B.C.– Israel told by God in the wilderness that generation would not enter the land of promise.
586 B.C .– The Babylonian army destroyed the Holy Temple.
70 C.E. – Titus and the Roman army destroyed the Holy Temple
135 – "Bethar" the stronghold of Bar Kochba, fell ending the last trial for Jewish Independence.
136 – Rome began to erect the pagan city on site of the Temple dedication.
1096 — The first crusades began.
1290 — The Jews were expelled from England.
1306 — The Jews were expelled from France.
1492 — King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella signed expulsion. By July, on the 9th of AV, all Jews had to be out of Spain.

1648 — Chmelnicky massacred tens of thousands of Polish Jews.
1914 — Declarations for World WAR I began.
1942 — Plans for the annihilation of Jews were drafted initiating World War II.
