The Danger With Charters--States Need To Learn Lessons From Texas

For years we have been warned by those in Texas who are suffering from the door that was opened for Islamic charter schools.  Here are important articles to bring you up to speed:

Phyllis Schlafly article on 4-9-12--Please read in entirety but here is an excerpt:

In Texas, 36 Turkish charter schools, called the Harmony Network, have received over $100 million in government funds. These schools now have 290 (mostly Turkish) employees on H-1B visas, about 16 percent of its workforce.

In Inver Grove Heights, Minn., a substitute teacher named Amanda Getz reported about what goes on inside a charter school called Tarek Ibn Ziyad Academy, TIZA. TIZA is a K-through-8th-grade charter school funded by U.S. taxpayers and sponsored by Islamic Relief.

The teacher says there is no clear division between the subjects studied during school and the study of the Quran after school. She says that homework assignments for after-school religious instruction are written on the board right alongside assignments for math and social studies.

Getz says she was informed that, on Fridays, the Muslim holy day, there would be a school assembly in the gym after lunch. She was instructed to take her students before the assembly to the bathroom, four at a time, for “ritual washing,” and afterwards “teachers led the kids into the gym, where a man dressed in white with a white cap” led the students in Muslim prayers.

Warning for Alabamians from State Board Member Betty Peters--"The latest AL legislation says on p. 53, lines 24 thru 27, “Employees of a public charter school, as well as members of the governing board of a public charter school, shall demonstrate to the authorizer of the public charter school that they are citizens of or lawfully present...”  Unless the  phrase “or lawfully present” is removed, foreign citizens can serve as members of an AL public charter schools’ governing board.  Can foreign citizens who are in AL legally serve as a board member of any of our existing county or city public schools or on the state school board?  Why in the world would we want to make exceptions for public charter schools and open ourselves up to groups like the Gulen charter schools? "

Why the hurry?  Let's get this right.  Please call or better still go to the Senate Committee hearing on Tues April 17th at 1:30 pm in Montgomery on the 8th floor Room 807 Conference Room and let your legislators see your concern.  Come an hour earlier if you want to sign in to be able to speak.

Common Core Standards--The Long And Short Of It For Parents And Teachers--Help Is On The Way --But It Needs You To Call Congress To Defund Common Core and RTT

Hear interviews pivotal in getting the fire burning in the battle against the national take-over of education.  Home Schoolers and Private Schoolers--BE Warned--it will affect all.

Here's an excerpt from an e-mail from very concerned parent:

Private and homeschool students may not get accepted into college or be allowed to take the classes in college that they choose because of Common Core Standards.

According to the discussion draft "Common Core State Standards and Teacher Preparation: The Role of Higher Education" (1st 2 pages attached in pdf file) by the Science and Mathematics Teacher Imperative:

"higher education (colleges and universities) will need to consider how to use the assessments developed to measure high school students' master of those content domains in college admissions and placement.  ... universities in the states that have committed to one of the two consortia developing assessments (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers [PARCC] and Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) have made a commitment to include assessment results in making placement decisions."

Universities and colleges in most of the 50 states “have made a commitment to include assessment results in making placement decisions.”  In other words, if a university in a Common Core State receiving Federal funds has to make a choice between a public school student who completed a high school under Common Core and a private or homeschool student who did not, guess who is not getting admitted into that college.  If a child is private schooled or homeschooled, they would not have taken the assessments developed for Common Core Standards curriculum that public school students will be taking.  Or will parents who do not public school their children be forced to submit their children to these assessments?  I’ve also attached one of the source documents for the discussion above, “Implementing the Common Core Standards:  An Agenda for Higher Education”, as it talks about this issue and the assessments in more detail.

Today most parents are in the dark about two attacks on their rights to raise their children.  They are so busy  just trying to make it through their day what with work, chores and the additional ball games, dance classes and other activities on their almost full plate.  Many expect the news they see on 6 o'clock to tell them everything they need.  But alas, they should know by now-mainstream media doesn't tell them everything they need to know especially on the Common Core States Standards (CCSS) or Common Core Standards Initiative (CCSI).

Here's the scoop parents--there are two merging actions that without you to stop it--will be taking away your parental rights.  One is what is touted as the Common Core States Standards supposedly to help train your students to become college and career ready.  And after all shouldn't a child in all states have equal access to that kind of education?  

The other is called the UN Treaty on the Rights of a Child.  Children should have rights to good things like food, care etc.  Sounds good at the top but what's underneath it stinks--like the right of a child to take you to court over your decisions he or she disagrees.  Sounds preposterous but unfortunately it's already happening in Europe.

These things will make this already confused world worse and parents can't run to home-schooling as the UN Treaty on the Rights of a Child will take that option away.  The clock is ticking and as you can tell this administration is working fast and furiously before the Nov election.  

Please pray and open your eyes.  Hear the truth from experts.  Of course there are those who would rather you remain asleep--it works better for their agenda that way.

Common Core Standards--Federalizing the Educational System

" The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of  government in the next." Abe Lincoln.

The enemy knows that quote well to the point they can probably almost taste their success because they have practically removed the defenders of the family from most American homes.  Fathers are many times absent and so are the mothers.  Many children are either latch key kids or being raised by their grandparents.  Sexual and drug addictions are being promoted/supported rather blatantly in the movies, in homes on televisions and many adults no longer see their role as parents to their offsprings. 

The parents who are trying to take care of their families are inundated with the woes and cares of maitaining a job, preserving what money they get in light of today's problems with the economy and looming insurance uncertainties for their families health care.  Those in the military protecting their nation have special problems that makes the task of parenting harder.

So most of us are distracted when they try to put in place the federalizing of this nation's educational system.  Listen to this podcast and share it.  Let it serve as a wake-up call as Abe Lincoln quotes a warning for us.  It is time America to rebuild the wall and set this nation back to the right course.  It begins with each of us protecting our own.  You don't want to be surprised at what they will be teaching your children--make a difference today with knowing the truth about what is in Obama's Common Core Standards.
